Halvbirken ski race

Dominik, Jabus and I made a trip out to Lillehammer for the half Birkebeiner ski race. It's 28 km, the first 14 or so of which make a loop around Sjusjøen, then the rest heads mostly downhill to Lillehammer. It was a beautiful day, and we all enjoyed the trip. It was a pretty long drive, though!

As with all skiing trips, it began with the others waxing and me cheating by using my waxless skis! I think that there are some real advantages to waxable skis as far as gliding goes, though...

After waxing, there was of course a bit of testing of the wax and trail conditions... and avoiding the teenagers who started their race!

Crowds at the start...

and smiling faces at the finish... (after the boys waited for the slowpoke member of Team Tyholt).
