Cycling on the other side of the fjord

We lucked out with four days of extremely nice weather over a long four-day weekend, giving me the opportunity to go for a long bike ride on the other side of the fjord with a friend.  The route was:

(with the crossing being achieved by ferry, of course!). It's a flat 10 km from the city to Flakk, where the ferry leaves, and then a bit of an uphill on on the way up to this lake.

After that, it was downhill and flat back to the coast.

When we got to Rissa, we decided our legs were in good enough condition to continue up to Fevåg for lunch.

When we came back to Rissa, we went for a dip in the fjord before continuing along the coast.

It was an absolutely beautiful day, just perfect for riding.

And - apparently - perfect for sitting and looking out over the water!

The only minor hiccup on the way back to the ferry was that we encountered a hill marked with 9-14% grade for 1.5 km - not an easy climb! I was very proud that I made it up the hill (which was followed by a few more), and very glad that I wasn't there in the winter. There were evenly spaced boxes with sand along the hill, which is a pretty good indication that things can be slippery.
