Appenzell, Switzerland

Mom and I met in Switzerland! We walked up to Sealpsee on Sunday afternoon, a gray but dry fall day...

And woke up to winter! Our initial plan was to go up a bit higher, but it wouldn't have been very prudent... We walked down in the snow/rain instead, and up to another cabin at similar altitude.

It was quite funny to see the bright green grass and the snow just above!

Mom taking a little break on the way up!

Sunset viewed from Ruhesitz.

We woke up to brilliant sun on Tuesday, and were able to check that it would be safe to go up to one of the peaks - Hoher Kasten. It was an uphill walk, and then we took the cable car down - which is quite a nice way to do it!

Looking down at Ruhesitz right after starting.

Here's Mom!

Still climbing...

And the view from the ridge at the top - looking towards Austria!

And here we can see that Mom walked up some 500 m from Ruhesitz up to 1794 m!

After some lunch back in the fall weather, we walked a bit more in the hills and then to Dominik's parents' place, where we had a lovely evening.

It was really a beautiful area, and great to see Mom!
